FACL BC Leadership Academy

Introducing the 2023 Leadership Academy Fellows

Congratulations to the 12 lawyers who have been selected to join the inaugural class of the FACL BC Leadership Academy: Daniel Lee, Edmond Lo, Flora Wu, Janice Lu, Jessica Chung, Jim Wu, Khalil Jessa, Natalie Chan, Sadaf Kashi, Shanna Gu, Sunny Chiu, and Tiffany Ho.

The FACL BC Leadership Academy is the first of its kind for Asian Canadian lawyers and was created to develop the next generation of leaders in our Asian Canadian legal community and address the lack of diversity at organizational leadership levels. 1 2

This 6-month program has been uniquely designed to equip future leaders with key tools and strategies for leadership growth while allowing participants to form authentic connections with peers within the profession.  This program is envisioned to serve as an important stepping stone for Leadership Academy fellows on their individual and collective paths toward career excellence, personal growth, and leadership.

In particular, Leadership Academy fellows will:

  • Learn about the fundamentals of authentic leadership
  • Develop practical and tangible skills for growth and success
  • Form meaningful connections with future leaders
  • Gain a clearer sense of identity and purpose in their personal and professional lives

Qualifications

The program is designed to accelerate junior to mid-level Asian Canadian lawyers through their careers. Enrolment in the program is limited to up to 12 lawyers. All FACL BC members are encouraged to apply.

  • Membership: Applicants must be full members or be eligible for full membership of FACL BC.  For more information on how to join, please visit our page (full member fees are $50 annually).
  • Background: FACL BC is a pan-Asian organization celebrating the diversity of our Asian communities - we explicitly encourage lawyers who self-identify as South Asian, Southeast Asian, East Asian, West Asian and other Asian Canadians to apply.
