Join FACL BC's Advocacy Committee for the first in a three-part series focusing on workers in different industries in BC.

Gig workers, specifically those who work on-demand through platforms such as Uber, Lyft, and SkipTheDishes, are often faced with challenging working conditions in an area of law which is still developing. On the other hand, gig work may offer flexibility to workers that is unavailable in traditional employment relationships.

This panel discussion will focus on the state of employment and labour law as they relate to gig workers, anticipated law reform, and the realities of doing gig work in BC.

Panelists:

  • Erica Sandhu, Hastings Labour Law Office
  • Jasmine Gill, South Asian Legal Clinic of BC
  • Supriya Routh, Associate Professor, UBC Allard School of Law

    Moderator:

    • Jacqueline Louie, Articled Student, Victory Square Law Office

Date: Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 6 pm

Location: UBC Robson Square Room C420 and via Zoom. Register via Zoom here

This event will qualify for 1 hour of CPD credit.
