February 2026 Spotlight: Melorin Naimi

What is your name?

Melorin Naimi

Current place of work/title?

Associate Lawyer at South Fraser Law Group

How did you first get involved with FACL BC?

I first became involved in FACL through the Hometown Eats program.

What has been your favourite FACL event or initiative so far?

To date, from the various events FACL hosts, the Hometown Eats program has been my favourite. It was a great introduction to the organization. The program is a great way to experience various cultures while allowing members to socialize, gain insight, and build connections with existing and newer members.

What advice would you give yourself if you were to go back in time?

I would tell myself to reach out to my community and fellow junior lawyers. The connections we build with each other are essential in our line of work. It's important to our own well-being (mental health) to form connections with our peers, and it's important for our work; when we are in a supportive environment we can provide better service to our community and clients.

What is something that not many people know about you?

Not many people know that I’m more soft-spoken than people expect, but I care deeply about doing good work and being someone others feel comfortable coming to. I try to bring this calm into my work, even when things are contentious — I’ve learned it makes a real difference for clients and colleagues alike.
